RDET Director, Agri Chair Successfully Complete IP Masterclass
After months of attending a series of online sessions for the Intellectual Property Masterclass (IPMC), Assistant Prof. Leobert L. Banzali, the College’s Research and Development, Extension and Training (RDET) Director and Miss Xina V. Vinalay, Chair of the Agriculture Department, have successfully completed the 6th DOST-PCAARRD IPMC under the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program, Batch 2. This was held in Cauayan,Isabela on January 26, 2024.
Batanes State College is privileged to be one of the beneficiaries of DOST-PCAARRD for the Establishment of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) in Batanes State College (BSC) through the RAISE Program. This project, with a total amount of 3,068,100.00 aims to increase the research activities, technology and knowledge generation, and the protection of intellectual property outputs. The establishment of the IPTBM Office at BSC will ensure that research activities through product development, production and technology generation are conducted effectively. It will not only sustain and improve the ongoing research and technology generation activities of the college, but also encourages researchers, innovators and future technology generators to engage in activities that involve the community through partnerships and collaborations with local, national and potentially international organizations.
To ensure the proper and successful implementation of the project, Asst. Prof. Banzali as the project staff level 3 and Miss Vinalay as the project staff level 2, attended a 15-day learning sessions for the Intellectual Property Masterclass. This comprehensive learning event included a series of lectures and examinations relevant to IP application. The learning sessions took place from November 7, 2023 and concluded with an examination on January 25, 2024. Both Banzali and Vinalay successfully passed the examination, making them eligible to graduate with a Certificate of Completion. Among their accomplishments were the successful application for Utility Model for the “Process of producing arius wine” and “Process of producing arius jam”.
Meanwhile, Vinalay also took an oath as a new Associate Member of the PAQE Inc. being inducted by the President and CEO, Atty. Editha R. Hechanova.
