Batanes State College (BSC) extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Djovi Regala Durante on his reappointment as College President for a second term, serving from 2026 to 2030.
During a Special Board Meeting held today, 24 June 2026, and presided over by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, the Batanes State College Board of Trustees (BSC-BOT) unanimously approved the reappointment of Dr. Durante following the presentation of his performance evaluation for the 2022–2026 term.
Present during the meeting were BSC-BOT Chairperson and CHED Commissioner Hon. Myrna Q. Mallari; Vice Chairperson and BSC President Hon. Dr. Djovi R. Durante; Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Director Hon. Dionisio C. Ledres Jr.; Department of Agriculture Regional Executive Director Hon. Rose Mary G. Aquino; Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, Cong. Jude Acidre represented by Hon. Cong. Ciriaco B. Gato Jr.; Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, Senator Joel Villanueva represented by Hon. Cris Sarmiento; Faculty Trustee Hon. Warlito M. Tomas Jr.; Alumni Trustee Hon. Kurt G. Hostallero; Student Trustee Hon. Alfred Vincent D. Baccay; and Department of Science and Technology Regional Director Dr. Virgiña Bilgera.
During the meeting, Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Chairperson of the Evaluation Committee for the President, presented the evaluation of Dr. Durante’s accomplishments and performance during his first term. The evaluation served as a key basis for the Board’s deliberation and eventual decision. Through a unanimous vote, the Board reaffirmed its trust and confidence in Dr. Durante’s visionary leadership, dedication, and steadfast commitment to advancing the mission and vision of Batanes State College.
BSC likewise expresses its sincere gratitude to Commissioner Myrna Q. Mallari for her invaluable guidance, steadfast support, and continued commitment to the growth and development of the institution.
Under Dr. Durante’s leadership from 2022 to 2026, BSC achieved significant milestones in academic excellence, institutional development, research, extension, innovation, and community engagement. These accomplishments have strengthened the College’s impact on the Ivatan community and enhanced its growing presence in the national and international higher education landscape.
Among the institution’s notable achievements were the successful re-accreditation of its academic programs, achieving Level III and Level II re-accredited statuses awarded by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Inc. The College also made remarkable strides in internationalization, earning global recognition through its inclusion in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) during its first participation.
The College likewise continued to expand and improve its infrastructure, providing more conducive and technology-enabled learning environments for students and employees. These developments further enhanced the quality of instruction, research, extension services, and student support programs.
