BSC (Batanes State College) through the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) conducted orientation for National Volunteer Month on December 05, 2025 at the BSC Amphitheater. The said orientation was participated by BSC staff, faculty members, and student-officials.
The Director for Instruction, Dr. Michel A. Cabrera, described volunteerism as one of the purest forms of humanity –selfless giving and faith that small acts can make big difference. Followed by Inspirational Message from the College President, Dr. Djovi R. Durante, duly represented by the College VP, Dr. Angelita H. Vargas, emphasizing that volunteering reveals an important truth, you are not powerless but a meaningful part of the solution. RD Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. Regional Director for Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) for his message of support.
The esteemed Resource Speaker, Ms. Claire S. Pantoja, an officer of PNVSCA, shared her expertise in volunteerism, motivating the academic community to actively contribute to inclusive development and help build a resilient future for everyone.
Inspired by Volunteerism Month, BSC employees and student-officials participated in the community outreach initiative called “LATAKPU” (Lakad-Takbo-Pulot). Participants walked/ran from BSC to Chanarian beach for a clean-up drive along the highway and beachfront.
