Batanes State College (BSC) proudly stands as one of only four (4) Higher Education Institutions in Region II selected to present their innovative proposal before the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office II and the Department of Tourism Regional Office II during the Tourism Start-Up Challenge (TSC) held today, February 11, 2026.
The team presented their proposal entitled:
“Development of a Sustainable EduTourism Hub for Batanes State College: Integrating Research, Heritage Preservation, Digital Technology, and Community Engagement.”
This forward-thinking initiative aims to preserve and promote Ivatan cultural heritage through curriculum integration, digitize Ivatan heritage resources for wider accessibility and long-term preservation, and establish a state-of-the-art EduTourism Center that will serve both learners and tourists.
The proposal was presented by our talented BSC students: Mr. Marcial G. Blanca Jr.; Mr. Crevian C. Cobico; Mr. Jay Cultura; Mr. Melvin Giovanni B. Domingo; Mr. James Kelly E. Espera; and Mr. Dave Marfy M. Gulaga.
Under the guidance of College President Dr. Djovi R. Durante and dedicated faculty and administrative mentors, the team showcased how education, technology, and tourism can work together to sustain and celebrate the rich heritage of Batanes for future generations.
Congratulations to the BSC Team for this remarkable achievement!
