Batanes State College (BSC) officially launched Phase 1 of its “Transformative Smart Campus Development: Enhancing Educational Excellence through Upgraded Facilities” Project on March 26, 2026, at the BSC Amphitheater, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the project marker.

Funded under the CHED Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG), the 15 Million Pesos initiative features a Nine Million Pesos Techno Hub with 45 computer units and Learning Hub with 15 computer units, all equipped with stable internet connection, and Six Million Pesos for a Learning Management System (LMS). These aim to strengthen BSC’s digital infrastructure and elevate teaching and learning experiences.

The event was graced by CHED Commissioner and BSC Board of Trustees Chairperson Hon. Myrna Q. Mallari, DBA, ASEAN CPA, as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker; Hon. Ciriaco “Jun” B. Gato Jr., Representative of the Lone District of Batanes and BOT Member representing Cong. Jude A. Acidre; and other BOT members.

In her keynote message, Commissioner Mallari emphasized that the project is an investment in students’ future, reminding them that every peso spent carries a responsibility to create meaningful and lasting impact. She also commended College President Dr. Djovi Regala Durante, along with other College Officials, for their commitment to advancing the institution, and expressed gratitude to Congressman Gato for his continued support in championing education in Batanes.

This milestone underscores BSC’s dedication to quality education through equipping its students with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
