Batanes State College (BSC) has made a strong showing at the 2025 Association of State Colleges and Universities – Solid North (ASCU-SN) Midyear Sports and Socio-Cultural Festival, clinching 1st Runner-Up in the Slow Pitch. The activity, themed “SIGED ASCU-SN: Celebrating Athleticism, Culture, and Unity,” brought together institutions from across the North Luzon region for a week of competition and camaraderie from July 14 to 18, 2025, hosted by Benguet State University.
BSC’s delegation, comprised of 39 employees, participated in a diverse range of events, including volleyball, basketball, darts, table tennis, long jump, and photography contest, showcasing both athletic prowess and artistic talent.
The highlight for BSC came on the softball diamond, where our slow pitch team battled fiercely against the formidable defending champion, Benguet State University (BSU). This marked the second consecutive year BSC and BSU have met in the championship. While BSU ultimately retained their title, BSC’s impressive performance secured the 1st Runner Up.
The activity is set to conclude today, with the BSC Volleyball Women’s team vying for a spot in the semi-finals as they match against Kalinga State University this morning.
In a forward-looking move that extends beyond the athletic fields, the participating delegates will be engaging in various benchmarking activities, with members of BSC’s College Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System will embark on a benchmarking activity at Benguet State University. This strategic initiative aims to glean insights from BSU’s established expertise and practices, directly supporting and enhancing BSC’s ongoing GAD development programs.
