Batanes State College (BSC) and Bohol Island State University (BISU) solidified their mutual commitment to the advancement of education, research, and professional development through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on February 28, 2025, at the BSC Board Room.
The one-year agreement outlines collaborative initiatives encompassing short-term academic programs, joint research projects, online learning platforms, and faculty exchanges. The partnership also facilitates sharing vital academic resources, including publications, journals, and research materials.
BSC College President Djovi R. Durante emphasized that the partnership with BISU is more than just a symbolic signing of MOU; it is the hope that the partnership will progress into doable actions that will transcend both SUCs to greater heights.
BISU University President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso underscored the shared island heritage and the mutual benefits of the partnership, recognizing the similarities between Bohol and Batanes, and expressed eagerness to learn from each other, acknowledging that even smaller provinces can offer valuable best practices while identifying great potential in collaborations within hospitality and tourism management.
BSC Directors Daryl Alva B. Duguran, Angelita H. Vargas, EdD, Fortunato Philip A. Cabugao, Romina Katrina B. Bernardo, and Doreen C. Castillo witnessed the MOU signing. They were joined by BISU representatives Dr. Francis A. Delusa, University Director for International Relations; Dr. Rizaleth P. Mepleza, Dean, College of Business and Management; and Dr. Agnes I. Estrera, Faculty Member of the Tourism Department.
