Batanes State College (BSC) conducted a training as an initiative of the BSC Research Project titled Science and Technology-Based Interventions for Sustainable Tourism in Batanes, specifically under the study “Sustainable Livelihood with S&T Interventions” held in the BSC on October 01 and 02, 2025.
The two-day Training Workshop was facilitated by the following resource persons: Provincial Director Nora T. Garcia, Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO); Ms. Kristin Bernadette D. Callang, Isabela State University (ISU) – Food Innovation Center Officer-in-Charge; and Engr. Mark Keneth Sumbillo, Senior Science Research Specialist, DOST. They discussed the food preservation methods and food safety. Emphasis was given on the importance of preserving local produce, reducing food waste, and promoting food security. This training aimed to build and enhance the participants’ skills and knowledge in food preservation methods that are applicable to the locally produced products here in the province.
The training was attended by the BSC staff and faculty, teachers from Batanes National High School (BNHS) and representatives from the local businesses.
