The Batanes State College celebrated the transition of 112 fourth-year students from various programs into their internship phase in the 2nd Pinning, Coating, and Testimonial Ceremony last January 17, 2025.
BSC President Dr. Djovi R. Durante, in his inspirational address, echoed the words of Martin Luther King Jr., encouraging the interns to persevere regardless of obstacles. “If you cannot fly, then run; if you cannot run, then walk; if you cannot walk, then crawl; but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward,” he stated. Dr. Durante emphasized the internship’s role as a crucial training ground and expressed confidence in the student’s abilities to make a positive impact.
Ms. Ana Marie A. Rosas, Batanes Provincial Human Resource Management Officer and Host-Training Establishment Representative, urged interns to embrace challenges, adapt to new environments, and view criticisms as opportunities for growth. “In life, we sometimes think that there are things we cannot achieve but are eventually able to accomplish because we are being pushed, ‘di ba? Kung hindi pa tayo tinulak-tulak ay hindi natin malalaman na kaya pala natin yung dapat nating gawin.”
BSC alumni, including John Harly V. Placides, LPT, Noemie P. Cabizon, LPT, Alex G. Cruz, L.Agr., and Ivan Patrick C. Medrano, L.Agr., shared their testimonies, offering insights and inspiration to the new batch of interns.
A symbolic gesture highlighted the event as board passers ceremonially handed pens to student interns, representing the transfer of knowledge and responsibilities.
The ceremony saw the pinning and coating of 112 students across seven programs:
• 11 from Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED)
• 14 from Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED)
• 13 from Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA)
• 11 from Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM)
• 36 from Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM)
• 12 from Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BS InfoTech)
• 15 from Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BS InduTech)
Dr. Durante also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Provincial Government of Batanes for their continued support, particularly in facilitating the September 2024 Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT) in the province.
