The DOST and the Batanes State College partnered to bring CARAVAN: Beautiful Batanes ISLES (Innovation Services for Livelihood and Entrepreneurs) to the province this year. This initiative aims to promote scientific and technological awareness among the local communities and to support their economic and social development.

The CARAVAN this year offered a range of activities, such as a water analysis refresher course, a scholarship grant orientation for prospective junior college students, a series of entertainment and trivia night, a basic research method training and a capacity development and workshop with other LGUs and government agencies in Batanes.

The park was illuminated by the Caravan’s night entertainment, which showcased the performance of DOST’s SETUP project beneficiaries. SETUP is a DOST project that provides initial assistance to entrepreneurs. The beneficiaries were joined by the lively performances of the Batanes State College students.

Batanes State College, as the main collaborator, partnered with DOST to pursue a shared goal of bringing the benefits of science and technology advancements to the province of Batanes and creating livelihood opportunities for individuals through the use of the new technologies. Therefore, the province of Batanes shall advance through the influence of science and technology on the Ivatan’s lives.

The various activities started on December 11, 2023 and ended on December 14, 2023.
