Batanes State College, through the Gender and Development Office, held the culminating program for the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) 06 December 2024 at the BSC Amphitheater.

In the morning session, Atty. Julie Ann Valenciano-Adalla, OIC – Public Attorney III, addressed the Safe Spaces Act, along with Republic Acts 7877 and 8353. Atty. Rachel Ponce-Caan, Public Attorney II, provided insights on VAWC and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking Law. The participants also performed the “Isang Bilyong Babae, Bangon” dance– a global movement to end violence against women.
The afternoon session included presentations by Jomarie E. Tuluan, RMT, who spoke on Substance Abuse; Reymark C. Florendo, RM, who discussed Teenage Pregnancy: Risks and Realities; and Justine Joy B. Gecha, RM, who focused on Mental Health Awareness.
In addition, the Information and Communications Technology Department was announced as the winner of the Same Day Editing Contest.
The event was attended by students and administrative personnel, featuring a series of discussions focused on pertinent laws and rights related to VAWC.
