As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, Batanes State College (BSC) conducted a tree-planting activity for the Graduating Class of 2026 at Sitio Mutchong, Uyugan, Batanes on 13 May 2026.
The activity was participated in by the BSC Management led by College President Dr. Djovi R. Durante, faculty members, administrative personnel, graduating students, staff from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR- PENRO) Batanes, and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection – Batanes Provincial Office (BFP-BPO).
BSC extends its sincere gratitude to the DENR – PENRO Batanes for generously providing the seedlings and to the BFP – BPO personnel for their invaluable commitment to nurturing and watering the plants especially during the summer helping ensure growth and long-term survival.
United by a shared purpose, the graduating students planted seedlings that symbolize growth, hope, perseverance, and resilience, qualities that reflect their journey at BSC. More than just an activity, it served as a meaningful opportunity to contribute to environmental preservation and leave a lasting legacy in the community before embarking on a new chapter of their professional lives.
The tree-planting activity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 15: Life on Land.
As the Graduating Class of 2026 prepares to step into a bigger world, the activity serves as a reminder that success is not measured solely by academic achievement, but also by one’s commitment to protecting and nurturing the environment. Like the seedlings they planted, may they continue to grow, thrive, and create a positive impact wherever life leads them.
