Batanes State College (BSC) President Djovi R. Durante along with partner agencies and BSC officials and faculty conducted a Stakeholders’ Consultation for the proposed Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) program today, September 30, 2025.
The Chairperson for BSES Program, Mr. Warlito M. Tomas, Jr. presented the proposed BSES curriculum. During the open forum, the stakeholders raised several important suggestions, concerns, and considerations regarding the program. Although Hon. Anastacia B. Viola, Chairperson, Sanggunian Panlalawigan Committee on Education and Engr. Clouie Kaye D. Baltazar, Environmental Management Specialist II, DENR – EMB R02, were not present during the meeting, they expressed their support and contributed to the discussion through their correspondences. The stakeholders present are the following: Dr. Richard Q. Paddayuman, Agricultural Center Chief III, DA – Batanes Experiment Station; Mr. Cesar Doroteo Hostallero, Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Agriculture Office; Hon. Cleo G. Gonzales, Sanggunian Panlalawigan Committee on Environment and Natural Resources; Ms. Hegel R. Valones, Provincial Tourism Officer, PGB; Dr. Rhodora Liceria H. Domingo, Municipal Agriculturist, Municipality of Basco, represented by Ms. Robee Claire P. Delfin; Ms. Jennifer H. Moro, Education and Program Supervisor, SDO- Batanes; Mr. Henry A. Acaya, OIC- ENRO, PGB; Ms. Darcy N. Labrador, Ecosystems Management Specialist II, DENR; Atty. Sigfred Ray E. Valdez, Legal Officer, NCIP; Mr. Ritchie A. This consultation is a vital phase in the process of developing a curriculum that aligns with BSC’s commitment to academic excellence and responds to the province’s growing need to protect its ecosystems and preserve its cultural heritage. This program aims to develop professionals equipped to address environmental challenges.
