The Provincial Government of Batanes (PGB) designated every third (3rd) week of September as an observance of Ivatan Attire Day to be locally known as “Araw nu Unaunayen”. As part of the celebration PGB encouraged all government officials and employees in Batanes to wear Ivatan attire. This seeks to preserve the Ivatan cultural identity and heritage, instilling pride and inspiring the younger generation to value and appreciate cultural roots.
All employees of Batanes State College (BSC), headed by the College President Djovi R. Durante, join as one as they wear, with honor, their inaynap during the flag ceremony today, September 15, 2025. Afterward, some BSC faculty members and students went to the Batanes Provincial Capitol Balcony to witness firsthand the exhibition and sale of Ivatan attire and accessories and to explore authentic expressions of Ivatan Heritage through the works of local artists.
