Batanes State College (BSC) is actively advancing its internationalization efforts, having engaged in a meeting with the Provincial Government of Batanes (PGB) and the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) on June 25, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol.
The meeting focused on exploring internationalization efforts aimed at expanding opportunities for the island province. Key topics included establishing faculty of instruction and student exchange programs and scholarship grants, which are crucial for strengthening BSC’s academic programs, exposing students and faculty to international best practices, and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Present during the meeting were Dr. Djovi R. Durante, College President, Asst. Prof. Daryl Alva B. Duguran, Director for Internationalization and External Linkages, and key officials from the Provincial Government, including Hon. Marilou H. Cayco, Governor, Ronald “Jun” Aguto, Governor-elect, and other PGB Department Heads.
Also in attendance were the TECO team headed by Hon. Wallace Chaw, TECO Ambassador, Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Foundation (IPCF) team headed by Mr. Maraos, Chairman of the Board of Taiwan IPCF, and representatives from Splendid Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
While specific timelines and agreements are still being ironed out, the emphasis on exchange programs and scholarships indicates a clear path forward. The discussions concluded with a dinner hosted at BSC.
