Batanes State College (BSC) held a tribute program on May 22, 2025, at the College Quadrangle to honor the unfathomable love and support of the parents and guardians.
College President, Dr. Djovi Regala Durante gave a welcome remarks, reminding the graduates of Aristotle’s quote: “The roots of education are bitter and hard, but the fruits are sweet,” emphasizing the importance of recognizing the support systems behind every success.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to parents by the College President, Dr. Djovi R. Durante, Director for Instruction, Dr. Angelita H. Vargas, and the Department Chairpersons.
Graduates from the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department performed the song “MAPA” by SB19 as a tribute to their parents’ sacrifices, followed by the presentation of their tokens to their parents.

Mrs. Afea Fajardo spoke to fellow parents in Ivatan, “Matnga kan malijat tava an katuruh su kailangan dasa, ta uyud a maydamnay an kaparawat da su pinaghirapan dasaya.” (Let us not grow weary or hesitant in giving them what they need, for it is deeply rewarding when they show us the results of their hard work.)
Meanwhile, the Agriculture graduates performed “You” by The Carpenters while ICT students shared a touching video message to their parents.
John Mark Fabre, Magna Cum Laude of BSEd–Math, delivered his tribute speech, emphasizing Ivatan parents’ care through simple questions like “Ara kana mangu?” (How are you?) and “Angu pasaw kailangan mu?” (What else do you need?), reflecting their enduring support despite challenges.
The Teacher Education Department sang “Salamat” by Yeng Constantino and presented their tributes to their parents.
On the other hand, the Industrial Technology Department performed a Fundanggo Dance together with their parents and rendered their tokens of appreciation.
A tribute to instructors and professors was delivered by Ma. Angelica Castillo, Cum Laude of Hospitality Management. She coined her message from the college core values SEHDANG:
