The Batanes State College (BSC) officially unveiled its Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) Office Marker yesterday, April 3, 2025, marking a significant step in bolstering innovation. The ceremony, attended by the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement Program of the Cagayan Valley (RAISE Cagayan Valley), celebrated the establishment of the IPTBM Office, funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST PCAARRD). College President Djovi R. Durante, through the Officer-in-Charge and Supervising Administrative Officer, Ms. Romina Katrina B. Bernardo, delivered a message emphasizing the office’s role as a catalyst for change.

“It’s a space where our researchers and innovators are empowered, where their ideas are protected, and where their innovations are nurtured to reach their full potential. […] As we move forward, let us continue to support each other to inspire and collaborate with unwavering dedication. Together, we can unlock new frontiers of knowledge and innovation driving progress that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come,” she added.

The event also featured the turnover of two (2) publications, “Cagayan Valley Innovations Exploring the Intellectual Technology Portfolio” and “Cagayan Valley Intellectual Property (IP) Inventory,” a collaborative effort by the RAISE-CV team. Dr. Miladis B. Mabutol presented the books to Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD) Assistant Director Dr. Lucy Lastimosa and Ms. Jamie Louise B. Mapoy.

Dr. Lastimosa, in her closing remarks, outlined the IPTBM’s function as a central hub for technology stakeholders within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) Innovation System. She underscored the office’s potential to empower Batanes innovators, stating, “With BSC’s effort to establish an IPTBM, our partners in Batanes can now protect and scale their innovations, incorporate their own brand, and have new sources of revenue should you license your IPs to already existing enterprises.”

Rev. Fr. Jenny B. Capindo officiated the ceremonial blessing and unveiling of the IPTBM Office Marker, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and office blessing, formally inaugurating the facility.

This milestone reinforces BSC’s strategic commitment to research excellence. The college expressed its profound gratitude to DOST-PCAARRD and RAISE-CV for their unwavering support in realizing this project.
