The Batanes State College (BSC) joins the Philippine Commission on Women in the 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration through the Gender and Development Office on March 6, 2023 with the theme: “WE for gender equality and exclusive society” which marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new theme from this year to 2028. Asst. Prof. Michel A. Cabrera, GAD Focal Person announced the breakthrough of the month-long celebration with various activities that support women in daily endeavors; some of which were the playing of the all-women cast Lupang Hinirang every Mondays of March, hanging of the banner of support, #PurpleWednesdays, participation in the #DigiALL Forum Series, participation in the NWMC organized by the Province (if there is any), and the Musika ng Kababaihan Wednesdays.
More so, the College will conduct a culminating activity on March 16-17, 2023 to celebrate National Women’s Month. A seminar on Magna Carta on Women and Achieving Gender Equality and Inclusivity will be conducted in the morning of March 16, 203 and contests on Song Writing, Spoken Poetry, Mobile Photography, Digital Short-Film and Infographics will be done in the afternoon. On March 17, 2023, there will be a pre-qualification screening on those who wish to donate blood in April. After the announcement of GAD Activities, all women employees of the college were given a sea glass necklace or simsiman by the male employees as a simple appreciation of being agents of change and playing a big role in achieving gender equality. This was followed by a photo opportunity.
