Batanes State College (BSC) successfully conducted the Student Orientation and Capacity Building on the BSC 6S Quality Workplace Standards on 31 July 2026, at the BSC Amphitheater. The activity introduced students to the principles of the BSC 6S Quality Workplace Standards, encouraged their application in everyday campus life, and strengthened their shared commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and productive learning environment.

The orientation was participated in by students, who actively engaged in the discussions and activities designed to promote awareness and appreciation.

In her opening message, Dr. Michel A. Cabrera, Director for Instruction, underscored the significance of the initiative and encouraged students to actively embrace the 6S culture. She expressed her hope that the orientation would inspire everyone to work together in creating a campus that is cleaner, safer, more organized, and conducive to learning and excellence.

The orientation was facilitated by Ms. Doreen C. Castillo, Director for Extension and Training and BSC Quality Workplace Team Leader. Through an engaging and interactive presentation, she introduced the BSC 6S Policy in a clear and practical manner, helping students understand how simple, everyday actions can contribute to the successful implementation of the program across the College.

More than an orientation, the activity marked the beginning of a collective commitment to embedding the values of 6S into the BSC community. Students were encouraged to become advocates of the program and active partners in promoting a culture of quality, discipline, and continuous improvement.

By practicing the principles of Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety, every BSCian plays a vital role in building a campus that exemplifies professionalism, efficiency, and excellence.
