Batanes State College (BSC) officially welcomed the first-year students through the Freshman Walk and College Orientation held today, 20 July 2026, at the BSC Amphitheater, marking the beginning of their exciting academic journey as proud BSCians.

The Asst. Prof. Antonia E. Español, Director for Student Services, warmly welcomed the new students and wished them an academic year filled with meaningful learning, lasting friendships, memorable experiences, and remarkable achievements. She also congratulated them for taking the first courageous step toward a brighter future.

In his inspirational message, College President Dr. Djovi R. Durante, represented by Ms. Doreen C. Castillo, Director for Extension and Training, reminded the students that while a college diploma can open many doors, it is one’s character that ultimately determines how far one can go. She emphasized that BSC is committed to developing not only competent graduates but also responsible, compassionate, and ethical individuals guided by the College’s core values—SEHDANG: Service, Excellence, Honesty, Dedication, Adaptability, Nurturing, and Gender-responsiveness. She encouraged everyone to live out these values each day by learning with humility, acting with integrity, and dreaming without limits.

To help the freshmen become more familiar with the College community, the Office of the Board Secretary, Human Resource Management Office, and Office of the Director for Instruction introduced the College Officials, Administrative Personnel, and Faculty Members, respectively.

The much-anticipated College Orientation, facilitated by the Student Services Office, introduced the wide range of programs and services available to support students throughout their academic and co-curricular journey. The orientation featured key student support services, including scholarships, guidance and counseling, health services, sports development, student publication, socio-cultural programs, the National Service Training Program (NSTP), the Supreme Student Council, and the Registrar’s Office.

More than an orientation, the program served as a heartfelt welcome into the BSC family, a reminder that every great journey begins with a single step. At Batanes State College, every student is assured of a community that will inspire, support, and guide them every step of the way.
