Batanes State College (BSC) concluded its month-long celebration of National Women’s Month with a culminating program held at the BSC Amphitheater, drawing faculty, administrative personnel, and students.
In his inspirational message, College President Djovi R. Durante stated, “This year marks the third installment of the recurring theme, WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society serves as positive affirmation and a call to action. The current theme builds on the successes of the previous theme […] we make change work for women. The banner not only represents a statement of progress but also serves as a powerful call for sustained action. It symbolizes the milestones achieved in narrowing the gender gaps for the advocacy,” emphasizing the college’s dedication to making change work for women, echoing the spirit of the celebration.
AVP Ma. Victoria P. Roberto, Landbank of the Philippines Basco Branch Manage, provided Financial Literacy Seminar. Roberto provided attendees with valuable insights into Landbank’s offerings and guided them through the Landbank Mobile Banking application, equipping them with essential financial management skills.
Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Ms. Marissa C. Antonio, further empowered the audience by sharing “16 Ways for Women to Live Empowered Lives.” Her presentation emphasized the critical role of empowerment in enabling women to make informed and positive life choices.
The “Serbisyo para kay Juana ” initiative, which offered special services, promotions, and discounts from local businesses to BSC women, garnered significant support. Ms. Aura Diaz Cano, Owner of Aura Diaz Cano Aesthetic Center, advocated for self-confidence, highlighting how aesthetic services can contribute to boost personal empowerment. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to all participating sponsors, including Dr. Brew Coffee & Tea, Chillout TeaZone, Neri’s Food Corner, Batanes Little Café, Dione’s Food Product, Triple-11 Motorparts Accessories & Services, Kooman, and Igadu, recognizing their commitment to advancing gender equality and women empowerment.
The event also honored exemplary women in the community including PSSG Brigitte D. Bayaras, Mrs. Imelda Rodriguez, and Ms. Jennifer Valiente. These individuals shared their inspiring life experiences, demonstrating resilience and dedication, and received certificates of appreciation for their invaluable contributions to an empowered and inclusive society.
Additionally, winners of the Digital Poster Making Contest, held on March 12, 2025, were announced, with Jeremiah Yves N. Cabanillas from Agriculture Department taking 1st Place and Angelo Concha from Teacher Education Department securing 2nd Place.
The culminating ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment from BSC and its community to continue advocating for women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality across all sectors, ensuring a brighter future for women in the ” Bagong Pilipinas. “
