The Batanes State College has accomplished a significant feat by obtaining an unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA), marking a historical milestone for the institution, as it is the only SUC in Region 2 to receive the highest rating in the region, according to the Commission.
COA Director IV and Officer-in-charge, Hector L. Cortes, conveyed in the transmittal letter that 2022.
BSC President Djovi R. Durante confirms the continuation of substantial measures to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the College’s operations. He has expressed his utmost gratitude to the COA for their impartial appraisal and extended his sincere appreciation to the faculty, administrative staff, and students for their unwavering commitment to upholding government funds allocation regulations. He is optimistic that this noteworthy accomplishment will foster unwavering faith and assurance in the financial system, which profoundly exemplifies the College’s steadfast obligation to deliver exceptional education, particularly to the esteemed Ivatan students.
The most crucial rating an auditor can give is an unmodified opinion. This means that the financial statements of the evaluated entity are presented relatively and follow accounting principles. It’s the highest assurance external auditors can provide for a government entity’s financial statements. An unmodified opinion confirms that the financial statements accurately portray the government’s financial position and performance, which is essential for financial transparency and accountability.
The BSC Community extends its appreciation to the COA audit team, led by Ms. Emma B. Abad, for their constant guidance and advice in achieving this recognition of the College.
